In terms of changes, “as overall booksales are slowly down globally – new models of distribution are emerging including subscription programs where consumers can have access to vast digital libraries of music, films, ebooks and audiobooks for a small recurring fee.”
In James’s view, “China is on the doorstep of its own renaissance. Whereas the European renaissance was created against the backdrop of Christianity, the Chinese renaissance is being well funded with targeted government programs to further the development of sciences and the arts as reflected here in the unprecedented growth in publishing industry over the past 20 years.”
